Q: What makes your TDP Lamps different?
A: JustBePainFree.com investigated 23 different manufacturers of TDP Lamps (the number of manufacturers still operating is now 4, including Spagyric). The factory selected meets some of the highest international standards for production and safety including, ISO-9001, ISO-13485, CE, ETL, and TUV. These TDP lamps meet the high standards required for use in hospitals. The components are more durable (e.g.; solid-state instead of coil heating), and safer (e.g.; additional weight and width of base, two fuses instead of one or none, gypsum insulation instead of asbestos), than most other TDP lamps. We feel so confident in these lamps, we have put our name on them.

Q: How long do these lamps last?
A: The mineral plate is estimated for a 1500 hour life. Replacement plates are available. This means your lamp will last through approximately 2200 uses at an average 40 minute cycle. That is about 5 years if used once per day. The heating element should last at least 5 times longer than the mineral plate. Now that solid-state heating elements have been installed in the current edition of Spagyric TDP lamps, it is estimated that the lamps will last 2-3 times longer than all other lamps using coil heating. Not enough time has passed since solid-state technology was implemented, so there is insufficient practical evidence of heating element lifespan. The projections are based on other older technologies that migrated to solid-state heating such as clothes irons.

Q: Some lamps say they have 43 elements in the mineral plate, are these better than your lamps which have 33 elements?
A: This is a sales gimmick that some imitation lamps use to make you think their lamp is better. The correct statement is that there are 33 elements in 43 various chemical binding forms intended for healthful stimulation of the human body processes when built into the TDP lamp. There is no lamp "better" than Spagyric TDP lamps.

Q: What do Version/Generation 2 and Version/Generation 3 mean?
A: Version/Generation 2.0 lamps use an old-style manual wind-up timer for up to 60 minutes. Version/Generation 3.0 lamps use a digital timer module for up to 99 minutes. Version 3.0 is the latest version of these lamps, but that is all the version number refers to.

Q: How do I clean my lamp?
A: Never use any liquid to clean the mineral plate or it will crumble. Your lamp should be fine with an occassional dusting when the lamp head is cool. Do not bang your lamp into things or drop it as you will break it this way. Do not take your lamp head apart to clean it.

Q: How big are these lamps?
A: The floor lamps stand about 5 feet tall. The arm assembly adjusts so the head can be as close as 2 feet from the ground. With a recommended safe distance of 12-16 inches, this means you can use the lamp while lying on the floor. Lamps weigh between 22 and 40 pounds depending on the model.

Q: How much power do these lamps use?
A: A standard TDP Lamp uses about 250Watts at 110V (per head).

Q: This "magic lamp" won International Science Awards?
A: The original "Gou Gong" TDP lamp was tested by Chongqing Environmental Protection, the China Measurement Institute and others and found to have no harmful effects. The lamp was exhibited at the 1986 Zagreb International Fair in Yugoslavia in competition with 560 inventions from 18 countries and was awarded the Gold Medal. At the 1986 Brussels Eureka World Fair for Invention, Mr. Wenbin received the Silver Medal Award. The TDP lamp was patented in China in 1992 and was granted the Medical Apparatus and Instruments Certificate by the China State Medicine Bureau. In September 2002, the Gou Gong TDP lamp received United States FDA Importation Approval. Since then, other lamps have been secondarily accepted for import by the FDA as "equivalent" to the original Gou-Gong CQ-27 lamp. The model number is NOT an indication of who manufactured the lamp or its quality. An independent assessment of quality is required, and many copies of the original design have been put into the market over the years. Gou Gong lamps are no longer available in North America due to manufacturing quality issues, along with most other TDP lamp companies that once shipped products to North America.

Q: How do I position/use the lamp?
A: The lamp head should be positioned 12-16 inches from the body area to be stimulated and the timer set for 20 to 40 minutes. Be careful that you do not burn yourself by sitting too close to the lamp, as it obviously radiates heat. Not that you would be using a temperature sensor, but your skin temperature should not exceed 130F or you will get a burn. Ask the health practitioner who recommended the lamp to you for additional usage guidelines.

Q: If I break my lamp, how can I get it fixed?
A: The lamp comes with a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects, and you may purchase an extended 5-year warranty at the time of your initial lamp purchase. If you wear out or accidentally break a component of your lamp replacement parts are usually available from the original manufacturer. Replacing components is not a self-service job, so we recommend replacing the whole head assembly for safety reasons, or contacting a small appliance workshop to do any component work for you.
